Keep The Light Burning

As an ancient art, science and philosophy, yoga will help get us all through these times as we build equanimity and resiliance by continuing with our practice together.

Intermediate Class

Tuesday 9:00 to 11:00 am

Students must be prepared to work with more refinement in each asana and hold the postures for much longer in this class. More challenging postures such as inversions and back extensions are introduced.

It would be helpful to have your own yoga props for this class.

A home practice is strongly encouraged so students deepen and maintain their understanding of Iyengar’s work. Classes will include more yoga philosophy.

Beginner/Intermediate Class

Wednesday 9:00 to 10:30 am

Students in this class begin to develop a deeper understanding of the basic poses as well as begin to work more on actions in the body towards understanding inversions. Intermediate asanas are introduced and yoga philosophy is incorporated in the classes for a greater understanding of the connection between body, mind and breath.

It is best to have at least one year of Beginner classes to attend this class, and to always work to your level of understanding in each asana!

Gentle/Senior Class

Friday 9:00 to 10:00 am

The Gentle/Senior class might be more suitable for you if you have an injury or if you are working with physical restrictions such as back, neck, knee, or shoulder problems, are overweight, weak, elderly, or if you simply want to participate in a shorter and slower paced class.

We will work on accessing much of the body through stretching and opening up the body. This will be done using modifications in the poses as needed and most postures are done with support.

FAQ

How Do I Connect With You?

Just click on the link/s above to register. If you have questions, please email me at lynnebowsher@aplaceforyoga.com.

In the interests of time, try to log in 10-15 minutes prior to the class start time to work out any glitches, especially for the first few classes!

All classes are being recorded and will be sent to you later that day.

What Props Will I Need?

If you have your own props, great! Otherwise there are so many ways to improvise. You will definitely need a yoga mat. But if you do not have wood or foam blocks, look around your home for something similar. For belts, use a robe tie or leather belt, any dining or kitchen chair should work for most poses, for blankets use firm blankets or beach towels. For bolsters find some firm cushions or pillows!

You may be surprised how resourcefull you can be!

Can I Purchase Props From You?

Yes, I do have belts and some blocks and other items for sale at the studio. I could also order some in if you wanted to get yourself set up properly for both online classes and your home practice moving forward.

Would I Be Able to Borrow Some Studio Props?

Yes, certainly! Several studios are offering prop kits to their students at this time. Please email me if you are interested in a prop kit and we can arrange a pick up at the front door of the studio!

What Technical Equipment do I need?

You can use a phone, Ipad, laptop, desktop, or even your TV if you know how to hook that up. I recommend exploring on various heights at home first, using your own camera to determine if you can find a position for your device that shows your whole body. That will make it easier for me to be able to see all of you!

Should I Have My Own Camera Turned On?

As long as your internet service is sufficient I would recommended your camera be turned on in order for me to be able to see you and offer verbal adjustments. This will help you in your practice going forward.

Will I See Everyone Else?

No, as long as you are not in gallery mode you should only see me and no one will see you, except for me of course!

How About Class Fees?

You may have two weeks credit if you paid up to March 27 that you can either apply to the online classes, or you can just bank them for when the studio opens for classes again.

Similarly, those who have a class pass can either use days remaining towards classes,  or as above bank them for when the studio opens to classes again.

Beyond that, here are the suggested online class rates; Intermediate $20 plus GST, Beginner/Intermediate $15 plus GST, Gentle $10 plus GST.

However, for those who are struggling financially right now, donations are appreciated, but not mandatory!
